MIRROR OF THE SOUL

Regardless of the social distances that have been increasing day in day out, populations have still completely turned to smartphones and enthusiastically engaged in trends that are virally shared. It seemed that almost all boundaries, along with many previously established rules of good behavior, had been erased, as if there would be no tomorrow. By chance, my phone screen glass broke, so I went to have it repaired at a service shop, where I was struck by the number of broken displays. Almost instantly, it occurred to me that the world’s misfortunes are reflected in those broken screens, mirrors in which we constantly see ourselves. I easily acquired them because they were meant to be discarded, no one else had asked for them before me.
Thus, a work like a cry for salvation emerged, titled “Mirror of the Soul”, as more and more of us incessantly tap on that glass, delving into the abyss of metaphors, while reality becomes virtual, where it seems we participate as puppets manipulated by someone else’s fingers. Let it be noted here that films like “Don’t Look Up” and “The Social Dilemma” later exploited the idea promoted by this work of mine, but is there intellectual property in the virtual world, and what would copyright apply to, where truth has become a synonym for power, and injustice a synonym for innocence?
