GOLDEN PITCHFORK / GOLDEN FAIRIES

I had made this work much before it was exhibited because a rebellion had been boiling in me due to very difficult living conditions for the vast majority of citizens, due to the rule of lawlessness in which crime and corruption flourish. However, in the public eye, only toys for supernumerary kids had appeared, while the pitchfork from the same “project” had to wait for the right opportunity. And then, due to pushing mountain rivers of Stara Planina Mt. into pipes for the construction of mini hydroelectric power plants, a call to arms from eco-activists came, for an Environmental Uprising, which was supposed to start with a large protest rally in front of the National Assembly Building in Belgrade.
I immediately contacted the organizers and told them I wanted to join the uprising and that I had a suitable sculpture I would like to donate as an exhibit on stage as a symbol of the uprising. This was gladly accepted, and I was invited to address the protesters from the stage, which I politely declined, as my work there was to speak for me. In that situation, I don’t think there was any doubt that the presence of the Golden Pitchwork / Fairies would first be understood as a symbol of popular uprisings from our history, but its name alone could also remind us that in life, good eventually triumphs, just like in fairy tales, where good fairies fight against evil until victory. The era we live in is golden in government-controlled TV announcements, but in order for golden dust to cover the Earth, I believe Golden Fairies would have to intervene.
