Novak is a man of saintly brilliance. He visits our dreams and is motivation for all of us. It’s hard to find words big enough to describe him. On this occasion, I will quote my friend Srđan Timarov, who said the following: ‘All of you who don’t have the gift to see his light, will stay there, in the darkness of his shadow.’ That’s Djokovic.”
As a child, I practiced tennis, it was in 1997, which, considering the enormous popularity of football and basketball among my peers, was somewhat odd. After every training session, it was mandatory to clean the court and level the surface. I found it interesting now to connect the time of that court maintenance with this nocturnal outing because I learned back then that cleaning the court is very important for skill and sportsmanship to be displayed on the court. My family abandoned my sports career during a family gathering, but for me, sports courts forever remained a kind of sanctuary, where the sports spirit reigns and where victory is fought honorably. Since one grows up quickly in Serbia, I soon realized why the family council decided to distance me from the court a bit. You know, son, not always the best win in sports because often, the third half is played. I watched with disdain those dirty games around the court where no means were spared to achieve results because it devalued the meaning of the game. It so happened that a small Serbia in the Balkans produced a great tennis champion, the world’s best, Novak Djokovic, whom only countries with the right to rule the world should have, as in them, the smartest and strongest people are always born. And it’s not just because of Novak that the sun rises in Serbia in the morning, but it stopped going west, which, of course, went beyond measure because a new Tennis Way was established. I wanted to see how this was possible and whether the ruler of tennis had indeed changed forever. I stepped onto the clay court with a brush in hand to work a bit because, as I said, sports courts are magical places, like magical mirrors when polished, they tell the truth and nothing but the truth. It was still dark, which satellite images can confirm, when Novak shone on the court like a bright sun. And there was light. Soon the sun rose to pay homage to him. So, it is true, a new tennis god and father descended to earth, and the stars knew that long ago. That’s how important brushes can be and the significance of purification, not just for sports. A man who gives his heart and is jeered by those around him can only be of divine descent. It’s an understatement to call him a winner, ambassador, humanitarian, philanthropist, and a man to be proud of for the nation. Honestly, I feel sorry for those throwing stones at him. Only dogs know how hard it is to bark at the stars. Be that as it may, I think that we, the ordinary, will soon reach the stars in his grace.
