VERIFIED SPACES AND PLACES

Considering that the virtual world has gained momentum and social networks have become the mode of living, the interventions undertaken, presented here, aim to highlight a social anomaly of acquiring prestigious status by verifying one’s own profile on the internet. The blue checkmark, as it’s often referred to figuratively, now opens iron doors. This work actually originated as a quest to find answers to the question of what criteria lead to someone’s signature being accompanied by a verification checkmark, because if that’s not known, it neglects the value system based on scientific principles and cultural premises, as well as the references acquired through education and socially significant business successes and work of great importance for progress in society. I wanted to publicly raise the question about the checkmark, because without a proper answer, its real significance will remain undefined, which I consider detrimental to the existence of society as a unique functional entity. Without that, it will be possible for a checkmark to be on the dumpster that was emptied that morning, which will occupy a place on the internet next to a parliamentary delegate with a special voting right, who will also be struck with a checkmark on his head by his boss for successfully outmaneuvering political opponents. In the end, perhaps the basic measure for obtaining the status of a checkmark will officially be money, which, if nothing else, will dispel all dilemmas in our society and unequivocally determine the direction of its orientation.
This work, it will turn out, was created a year before Meta decided to allow profile verification for everyone for a certain monthly fee, which unfortunately confirmed the final determination of our society to follow global trends without limits, which I sincerely feared.
